Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden
We went to Ho’omaluhia Botanical Garden in Kane’ohe about a week ago as our last family outing before I had to return to work. I wanted to go somewhere we didn’t often go, somewhere outdoors and beautiful, which isn’t hard in Hawai’i. It was a kind of overcast day which turned out to be for the better as it shielded us from the sun. It did rain a little and got a bit muggy, but overall it made for a moody and mysterious look for the photos we took with the darkness of the trees behind us. The garden is huge and has a large lake near the center of it where kids fish with their families. Makoa will fish there with James one day, but we wanted to document his first visit to the garden as a 4-month-old. These early days are so precious to me. Makoa is growing so fast and I am trying to soak in and savor every moment I can. I know I’ll be able to look back at these photos and remember this day holding my little one, taking in nature.
